Jaipur: Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), was allegedly assaulted during a protest in Jaipur on Monday, triggering police action and the detention of six individuals for questioning.

The incident occurred at Shaheed Smarak, where CJP supporters had gathered to protest alleged examination paper leaks, rising unemployment and concerns over the country’s education system. Videos circulating on social media showed Dipke being carried on the shoulders of supporters when a man allegedly pulled him by a cloth around his neck. Moments later, he was seen being slapped and physically attacked by a group of individuals before supporters intervened and restrained the attackers.

The Jaipur demonstration was part of a nationwide campaign launched by the CJP demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations, including the NEET paper leak controversy.

Reacting to the incident, Dipke said the attack would not deter the movement. In a post on social media, he described the assault as an act of fear and vowed to continue peaceful protests, stating that the campaign would remain rooted in the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

Police said six people have been detained and are being questioned at Vidhayakpuri police station. Officials also noted that permission for the protest was granted late on Sunday night with specific conditions, including a cap on attendance.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the attack and identify those involved. The probe is currently underway.
