Bokaro: ONGC’s Coal Bed Methane (CBM) Asset in Bokaro has witnessed a leadership transition with veteran oil and gas professional Rajiv Kumar Sinha assuming charge as Asset Manager on June 1, following the retirement of T.R. Unnikrishnan Nair.

With over 35 years of experience in the energy sector, Sinha has held key assignments at Mumbai High, the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH), Nazira in Assam, and Mehsana, earning a reputation for his technical and managerial expertise.

Nair retired on May 31 after a notable tenure during which ONGC achieved several milestones. Under his leadership, gas sales commenced from the North Karanpura Block in Hazaribagh, generating revenue for the company and royalty for the government. Significant progress was also made in gas monetization efforts in the Jharia region, where commercial gas sales are expected to begin soon.

Nair also spearheaded a range of CSR initiatives across Jharkhand, focusing on rural development, drinking water, education, green energy, women’s health, and water conservation. Computer laboratories were set up in schools and educational support was extended to students under the company’s SC/ST Component Plan.

ONGC officials expressed confidence that under Sinha’s leadership, the Bokaro CBM Asset will continue its growth trajectory and contribute further to the region’s energy and development goals.
