Yogi Adityanath Announces Scooties for 50,000 UP College Girls, Free Bus Travel for 60+ Women

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced that 50,000 female college students across the state will be provided scooties in October-November, in a major push aimed at promoting girls’ education, mobility and self-reliance.

Addressing an event, Yogi said the government’s support for daughters should extend from birth through education, with their safety, dignity and overall well-being remaining a key priority.

“Our goal is to ensure that daughters pursue education in a fear-free environment and become self-reliant,” the Chief Minister said, stressing the need to create greater opportunities for women and girls.

Free Bus Travel for Women Aged 60+

Yogi also launched the ‘Lokmata Ahilyabai Matrushakti Yatra’, a scheme providing free bus travel to women aged 60 years and above across Uttar Pradesh.

Describing the initiative as a tribute to Matru Shakti, the Chief Minister said it would offer elderly women greater convenience, dignity and freedom of movement.

He further stressed the importance of strengthening women’s social and economic independence, describing women as the foundation of society.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath has announced free bus travel for women and one companion from August 27 to 29 for Raksha Bandhan, with authorities directed to ensure safety and patrolling.

Yogi Takes Dig at Opposition

Taking a swipe at the opposition, Yogi claimed that Uttar Pradesh had earlier witnessed an atmosphere of insecurity, poverty and unrest, but that the situation had changed under the BJP-led “double-engine” government.

He said his government has placed daughters and women at the centre of several welfare initiatives, focusing on their education, safety and empowerment.

Highlighting the significance of the initiatives around Raksha Bandhan, Yogi said the measures symbolise the government’s commitment to supporting daughters and women at different stages of life.
