India Assures Nepal of Full Support as Flash Floods Trigger Rescue and Relief Efforts

New Delhi: India has assured Nepal of all possible humanitarian assistance as devastating flash floods caused deaths, destruction and widespread disruption in the neighbouring country.

President Droupadi Murmu conveyed her sympathies to Nepalese President Ramchandra Paudel and the people of Nepal, expressing solidarity with the country during the crisis. She said India stands ready to support the Nepal Government in rescue and relief operations.

Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan also expressed grief over the loss of lives, extended condolences to bereaved families and prayed for the safe and swift rescue of those missing.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah and conveyed condolences over the loss of lives. Modi said India stands firmly with the people of Nepal and is ready to provide all possible humanitarian assistance, while Indian teams are coordinating closely on rescue and relief efforts.

Dispatched 10 tonnes of HADR assistance and essential medicines to support Nepal’s response to the devastating floods.

Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu issued emergency helplines for Indian nationals affected by the floods. Those requiring assistance can contact +977 985 131 6807 or +977 970 910 7500.

India has also dispatched 10 tonnes of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) material and essential medicines to Nepal to support emergency relief operations.
