New Delhi: The Mithila Sanskritik Parishad, Bokaro, made a strong impression at the 4th International Malangiya Mahotsav held at Rajghat, New Delhi, from April 24–28. Directed by senior theatre artist Shambhu Jha, the team staged the Maithili play “Ek Kamal Nor Me”, earning wide appreciation for its powerful performances and presentation.

The cast featured Sunil Mohan Thakur, Ashutosh Jha, Rohit Chanchal, Chandrakant Mishra ‘Bulan’, Girijanand Mishra, Preeti Priya, and Kasturi Sinha, while lighting was also handled by Jha.

The five-day festival, organised by Malangiya Foundation in association with Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, showcased 35 plays written by noted author Mahendra Malangiya, with participants from across India and Nepal. The event achieved recognition in the Guinness World Records.

Shambhu Jha, who also served as an observer and reviewer during the festival, was honoured with the ‘Director Award’ by organising committee member and litterateur Anoop Maithil.

Office-bearers of Mithila Sanskritik Parishad, Bokaro, congratulated the team, calling the achievement a proud moment for the region and a significant boost to Maithili theatre on the global stage.
