Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has directed the Education Department to swiftly assess and initiate the recruitment process for vacant teaching positions in government schools across the state.

In a post on social media platform ‘X’ on Wednesday, CM Nitish emphasized that the appointment process should begin promptly through the upcoming TRE-4 examination, ensuring 35% reservation for women in line with state policy.

As per earlier data, more than 2 lakh teaching positions were vacant in Bihar, including around 36,000 at the secondary level and 33,000 at the higher secondary level. The fresh evaluation is expected to push the number beyond 2.5 lakh.

The Education Department had recently invited applications for 7,279 posts — 5,534 for primary (Class 1–5) and 1,745 for upper primary (Class 6–8). The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) will conduct the recruitment exam, with the application deadline set for July 28.

Additionally, the department is preparing to open applications for 80,000 more posts soon. With the Chief Minister’s direct intervention, the teacher recruitment drive is expected to accelerate significantly.
