Patna:  Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday visited Bihta to review the ongoing construction of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) headquarters and the Bihta-Danapur elevated road project, directing officials to expedite the remaining work and ensure timely completion.

During his inspection of the SDRF complex, Nitish took stock of the administrative building, examining both completed and under-construction sections, and reviewed facilities being developed across the premises. He instructed officials to ensure smooth access to the complex and emphasized the installation of solar panels on newly built government structures, aligning with the state’s push for sustainable infrastructure.

Building Construction Secretary Kumar Ravi briefed the Chief Minister through a detailed model of the headquarters. The campus will feature an auditorium, training centre, swimming pool for flood rescue training, staff quarters, barracks, and sports facilities, most of which are nearing completion.

Nitish later reviewed progress on the Bihta-Danapur elevated road, a key 25.081 km-long infrastructure project connecting Danapur Railway Station to Koilwar Bridge. The ₹1,969 crore, four-lane road includes four bypasses—Neuraganj, Panal, Kanhauli, and Vishnupura—and will significantly improve traffic flow between Patna and Buxar, while also enhancing access to Bihta Airport.

Officials informed the CM that the first phase of the project was completed two months ahead of schedule, with 30.07% of the total work completed so far. The elevated road will consist of 387 pillars (289 already in progress), 4 major bridges, 10 minor bridges, 37 culverts, and 1 underpass. Completion is targeted for September 6, 2026.

The project is expected to reduce travel time, save fuel, and ease traffic congestion in and around Patna, boosting regional connectivity and infrastructure development.
