Bokaro: A vibrant ‘Vasantotsav’ (Spring Festival) music concert was organised on Sunday evening at Adarsh Cooperative Colony under the coordination of veteran musician Pt. Bachanji Maharaj, where artists from Bokaro and other places captivated the audience with classical and light music performances.

The event began with chief guest educationist Shivendra Prasad Singh and artists paying floral tribute to Goddess Saraswati. Pt. Bachanji Maharaj welcomed the guests and said the festival aims to nurture a vibrant musical culture in Bokaro while providing a platform for emerging artists.

The programme opened with devotional Bhajans by Brahmanand Goswami, Krishna Tulsi, Akshita, Pramod Kumar, Hareknath Goswami, Deep Narayan Goswami and Pt. Shyam Goswami. The singers were accompanied on tabla by Raju Goswami, Swapan Kumar and Swagat Pathak, while Saday Kumar Jha played the keyboard.

Young artist Akshar Raj impressed the audience with a solo tabla performance in the Dadra and Kaherva rhythmic cycles. Solo tabla recitals were also presented by Swapan Kumar, Shridhar, Gopal Chaubey, Geeta Devi, Arthav Shreshtha and Aditya Raj.

A major highlight of the evening was the classical vocal recital by Pt. Abhiram Pathak of the Gaya Gharana, who travelled from Ranchi for the event. He was accompanied by Pt. Shravan Kumar Pathak on the pakhawaj and Pt. Shyam Goswami on the harmonium.

Addressing the gathering, Shivendra Prasad Singh emphasised the cultural importance of music and praised Pt. Bachanji Maharaj for promoting musical traditions in Bokaro despite limited resources.

The programme was attended by several music lovers and cultural figures, including Dr. R.N. Singh, Ritesh Kumar Jha, Prasenjit Sharma, Usha Rani Pathak, Mannu Pathak, Rajni Gandha, Saroj Chaubey, Shiromani Thakur, Suman Mishra and Sanjay, among others.
