Gautam Adani to Headline IIT (ISM) Dhanbad’s 100-Year Milestone on Dec 9

Dhanbad: IIT-ISM Dhanbad has kicked off its Centenary Foundation Week with a forward-looking, innovation-driven celebration of its 100-year journey — culminating on December 9 with Gautam Adani delivering the prestigious Foundation Day address.

Born in 1926 on the model of London’s Royal School of Mines, the institute has grown from a mining academy into a national tech powerhouse leading advancements in AI, energy research, geosciences, robotics, and emerging technologies.

The week opened with Dr. P.K. Mishra, Principal Secretary to the PM, as chief guest, setting the tone for high-level participation from DRDO, mining & energy majors, government leaders, and global technology representatives.

A major highlight is the launch of the Knowledge–Science Campus, offering live glimpses into tomorrow’s tech — including 3D metaverse mining, next-gen seismology, AI-driven digital twins, robotics solutions, and clean energy models.

The celebrations also feature expert forums on Developed India @ 2047, workshops on critical minerals and sustainable energy, student robotics challenges, a heritage exhibition, cultural evenings, and a grand drone show to close the century and open a new one.

As IIT (ISM) steps into its next 100 years, it positions itself firmly as a driver of national growth in critical resources, futuristic mining, frontier sciences, and high-impact technological innovation.
