Jammu: In a sharp counter to cross-border infiltration, the Indian Army on Thursday eliminated two terrorists in the Keran sector of Kupwara district, Jammu and Kashmir, during a joint anti-infiltration operation codenamed Operation Pimple.

According to defence officials, the operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs from security agencies about a planned infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC).

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Army confirmed:

“On 07 Nov 2025, based on specific intelligence input from agencies regarding an infiltration attempt, a joint operation was launched in the Keran sector of Kupwara. Alert troops noticed suspicious movement and challenged the infiltrators, who opened indiscriminate fire. Contact was established, and the terrorists were trapped and neutralised.”

Search and sanitisation operations are continuing in the area to ensure no further infiltration or movement of armed militants.

The latest encounter comes barely two days after security forces engaged terrorists in an intense gunfight in the Chhatru area of Kishtwar district, highlighting renewed infiltration attempts from across the border ahead of winter.

Security officials said the operation underscores the Army’s heightened vigilance and swift response capabilities along the LoC amid increased Pakistani attempts to push militants into Indian territory.
