Vedanta ESL Observes Fire Service Week with Focus on Safety & Outreach

Bokaro: In a dynamic observance of the 81st National Fire Service Week, Vedanta ESL Steel Limited launched an impactful campaign focused on fire safety awareness and emergency preparedness, reaching both its internal workforce and the broader community.

The week-long initiative was marked by a series of high-energy drills, comprehensive training sessions, and community outreach programs, all aimed at deepening the culture of safety and preparedness at the company’s Bokaro plant and in surrounding areas.

The event began with a gripping live demonstration by Vedanta ESL’s Fire Safety Team, showcasing a high-risk “Rescue from Work at Height” and a high-intensity fire drill. These real-time simulations highlighted the crucial role of swift action in life-threatening emergencies and demonstrated the team’s precision and readiness.

Throughout the week, more than 1,000 individuals—including over 700 business partners and 300 employees—participated in rigorous fire safety training. The sessions were designed to reinforce proactive safety measures and ensure that best practices are deeply embedded across the company’s operational ecosystem.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, the fire safety campaign extended to SJM School in Bijulia. There, more than 70 students from classes 6 to 10 were educated on domestic fire safety, fire prevention strategies, and road safety protocols. The initiative aimed to instill awareness and responsible behavior in younger generations.

To further engage participants, the company hosted both online and offline quiz competitions, testing fire safety knowledge while sparking greater curiosity. A poster competition added a creative element, encouraging visual expression of fire prevention themes.
