Ranchi: In a commendable effort to assist those in need during the winter season, the National Service Scheme (NSS) at BIT Mesra’s Lalpur Campus hosted a “Cloth Distribution Drive” on Saturday.

The initiative, which aimed to provide essential winter clothing, took place at key locations including Ranchi Railway Station and Pahari Tola, benefiting underprivileged individuals in the area while also fostering a sense of social responsibility within the campus community.

Ahead of the event, the NSS launched a cloth donation campaign, receiving generous contributions from students, faculty, and local residents. Volunteers meticulously sorted, organized, and prepared the donated items for distribution. On the day of the event, priority was given to elderly individuals, women, and children.

More than 15 NSS volunteers actively participated in the drive, reaching out to over 50 individuals in need. Dr. Abhaya Ranjan Srivastava, NSS Program Head, provided guidance throughout the process, ensuring the seamless execution of the event. Volunteers such as Hritika, Aryan, Abhishek, Sakshi, Aastha, Rahul, Aishwarya, Ananya, and Ashish played a crucial role in its success.

This impactful drive highlights the NSS’s unwavering commitment to community service and its positive influence on society. Participants expressed their enthusiasm for future initiatives, reinforcing the importance of making a lasting difference in the lives of those less fortunate.
