News Desk: In a development shrouded in secrecy, Mohammad Tahir Anwar — brother of Masood Azhar and a key figure linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed — has died in Pakistan under unexplained circumstances. With no official cause of death and a conspicuous silence from authorities, the incident is fuelling speculation around what really happened.

Funeral Announced, But No Answers

The outfit confirmed Anwar’s death through its internal channels, stating that his funeral was held late Monday night at a mosque in Bahawalpur — long known as a JeM hub. Notably, the announcement made no mention of illness, accident, or any specific cause, leaving key questions unanswered.

Global Terror Tag, Persistent Allegations

Jaish-e-Mohammed is designated as a terrorist organisation by the United Nations, the United States, the United Kingdom, and India. New Delhi has long maintained that the group operates from Pakistani soil with the backing or tolerance of elements within the establishment — a claim Islamabad denies.

A Network With a Violent Past

Jaish-e-Mohammed has been behind some of India’s most devastating terror attacks, including the 2001 Parliament attack, Pathankot (2016), Uri (2016), and the Pulwama bombing (2019) — incidents that have repeatedly strained India-Pakistan ties.

India’s Strikes and JeM Losses

Indian forces have previously targeted JeM infrastructure inside Pakistan, including its Bahawalpur headquarters, under Operation Sindoor — launched in response to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people.

The strikes reportedly destroyed multiple terror sites across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The Jamia Masjid Subhan Allah complex in Bahawalpur suffered heavy damage, with several of Azhar’s relatives and close aides among those killed. A senior JeM commander later acknowledged these losses — a rare admission from the group.

With no official explanation so far, Anwar’s sudden death adds another layer of intrigue to the shadowy world of terror networks. Whether it was natural, accidental, or something more covert remains unclear — but the silence is only intensifying the mystery.
