Bokaro: Doctors of Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) delivered an impressive performance at the 45th All India Steel Medical Officers Conference (AISMOC) held in Durgapur, winning several prestigious awards and bringing laurels to the unit.

The national-level conference saw participation from medical teams of all SAIL units, Tata Steel and other leading steel plants. Nine BSL doctors presented research papers and technical work under the guidance of Executive Director (Medical & Healthcare) Dr. B.B. Karunamay and CGM (Medical & Healthcare) Dr. R.K. Gautam.

Among the top achievers, Dr. Tripti Chandra secured first place in the Total Quality Management category. Dr. Rajneesh Kumar was adjudged Best Speaker in the Occupational Health & Safety category for his presentation on coal tar exposure among industrial workers. Dr. Deepti Prabha Ekka clinched second place in the long paper category for her study on tobacco’s impact on the retinal nerve fibre layer.

Dr. Shama Parveen and Dr. Akash Kant finished third in the PG short paper and MBBS paper categories respectively, while the duo of Dr. Santosh Choubey and Dr. Mohit Kumar secured third place in the MediQuiz event. Senior specialists Dr. Anand Kumar, Dr. Anindo Mandal and Dr. Indranil Chaudhary provided key technical mentoring.

The award-winning team met BSL Director-in-Charge Priya Ranjan on February 25 to share their experience. Congratulating the doctors in the presence of Dr. Karunamay, he praised their excellence and urged them to continue innovating in medical science.

Officials said the achievement reflects BSL’s strong commitment to quality healthcare and continuous professional development of its medical fraternity.
