Bokaro: In a major push to strengthen grassroots healthcare, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) wing of Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Piramal Health Management and Research Institute (PSMRI) for operating the Sarva Swasthya Kendra in Sector 09.

The comprehensive health centre aims to deliver quality medical services to residents of peripheral areas and underprivileged communities around Bokaro.

The MoU was formalised in the presence of Executive Director (Medical & Health Services) Dr. B.B. Karunamoy. Dr. Shubham Kumar Agarwal, Additional Chief Medical Officer, signed on behalf of BSL, while Ms. Neerja Banker, Program Director, represented Piramal Health. Several senior officials from Medical, CSR and Piramal Health teams were also present.

Under the partnership, the Sarva Swasthya Kendra will offer a wide range of clinical services, including general health check-ups, pathology and radiology facilities, bringing advanced diagnostics closer to the community.

The initiative builds on a decade-long collaboration between BSL-CSR and Piramal Health. For the past ten years, the two organisations have jointly operated the Ispat Sanjivani mobile medical van, which currently serves 46 peripheral locations around Bokaro city.

Officials said the new centre marks a significant expansion of this successful partnership and is expected to bridge gaps in healthcare access in Sector 09 and nearby areas. Through the initiative, BSL aims to enhance the availability of affordable, quality medical services at the community level while reinforcing its CSR commitment to building a healthier society.
