Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government has accelerated preparations to streamline tourism and religious activities across the state, focusing on safety, organisation and improved visitor experience ahead of the much-awaited Char Dham Yatra.

As part of efforts to boost winter tourism, the state is hosting Winter Games at multiple locations. Simultaneously, administrative planning has gathered pace for the post-winter launch of the globally renowned pilgrimage circuit.

State Tourism and Religious Affairs Minister Satpal Maharaj said the government aims to ensure better facilities for pilgrims and tourists while reinforcing security arrangements. He announced that a new initiative will be rolled out this year, offering insurance coverage to pilgrims undertaking the Char Dham Yatra.

Turning to preparations for the upcoming Kumbh Mela in Haridwar, the minister said the state is working to complete arrangements well ahead of schedule. Authorities are prioritising upgrades in railway and air connectivity along with enhanced traffic management systems to ease travel and movement for devotees.

The renewed push underscores the state’s strategy to strengthen religious tourism infrastructure while making pilgrimages safer and more convenient for visitors.
