Ranchi: The Jharkhand Legislative Assembly has taken a major step towards paperless governance by shifting its legislative work onto the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) platform. Chief Minister Hemant Soren formally inaugurated the NeVA Service Centre on the Assembly premises, describing it as the beginning of a new chapter in the functioning of the House.

Soren said the digital platform will simplify and accelerate legislative processes, allowing members to submit questions and complete official tasks online without the need for late-night paperwork during sessions. The transition is also expected to reduce the workload on Assembly staff while ensuring timely and efficient handling of legislative business.

Noting that nearly 20 state legislatures across India have already adopted the NeVA system, the Chief Minister expressed satisfaction that Jharkhand’s legislators are being trained to use the platform and are being provided with tablets to support digital operations. Several procedures in upcoming Assembly sessions will now be conducted through the application.

Highlighting the increasing role of technology in governance and everyday life, Soren said digitisation would strengthen coordination among members and improve communication within the Assembly. He credited Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato for steering the initiative, adding that the move would cut paperwork, enhance coordination and speed up legislative functioning as Jharkhand continues its development journey.
