New Delhi: IndiGo has announced a ₹10,000 compensation for passengers affected by the airline’s widespread operational disruptions on December 3, 4 and 5, offering the amount in the form of travel vouchers valid for any IndiGo journey over the next 12 months.

In addition to government-mandated compensation, the airline will provide an extra ₹5,000 to ₹10,000, depending on a flight’s block time, to travellers whose flights were cancelled within 24 hours of departure.

The carrier said it has also begun issuing refunds for all cancelled flights, noting that many customers should already see the amount reflected in their bank accounts, with the remaining refunds to be processed shortly. Refunds for tickets booked through online travel platforms have also been initiated and are expected to appear soon.

IndiGo, in its statement, said it is “expecting to operate over 1,950 flights on Thursday.” Under the ongoing Winter Schedule, the airline typically operates over 2,200 flights daily across its domestic and international network. However, the government has reduced IndiGo’s Winter Schedule by 10% to help the carrier stabilise operations after cancellations surged to 1,600 flights on December 5.

The airline said the combined steps aim to restore operational normalcy and rebuild passenger confidence after the unprecedented disruptions.
