Bokaro: Bokaro Steel City is gearing up for a lively, vibrant, traffic-free celebration of health and togetherness as the fourth edition of “Happy Street” returns on 14 December, running every Sunday till 4 January 2026.

Launched earlier by Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL), the initiative aims to inspire residents to embrace active lifestyles by reclaiming public roads for fitness, sports, art, and community bonding—without the presence of motor vehicles.

Talking to the media persons, Mani Kant Dhan, COC, BSL, the one-kilometre stretch from Gandhi Chowk to Bokaro Mall—popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi Path in Sector 4—will transform into a vehicle-free activity zone every Sunday from 7 am to 9 am, offering a refreshing start to the weekend.

Speaking to reporters, Kundan Kumar, CGM (BSL), said, “‘Happy Street’ is all about the joy of being carefree on the road. Our streets rarely give us that freedom. Here, everyone can laugh, play, dance, and simply enjoy the moment.”

He added that participants will be free to engage in a wide range of activities including football, basketball, volleyball, cricket, yoga, karate, taekwondo, skating, skipping, cycling, jogging, painting, music, singing, and dance, among others.

This year’s edition is expected to see over 10,000 participants from various schools, NGOs, private organisations, hospitals, CISF, JAP, Rotary Club, Lions Club and several community groups. To ensure safety, the entire road stretch will remain completely barricaded from 6 am to 9 am, officials confirmed.

With its extended run until 4 January 2026, Bokaro’s “Happy Street” is set to become one of the city’s most spirited community events—turning a busy boulevard into a lively open-air playground each Sunday.
