Ahmedabad: In a major anti-terror operation, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has detained three men suspected of having links with the Islamic State (ISIS) and allegedly plotting a possible terror attack in India.

The suspects have been identified as Ahmad Saiyyad, Mohammed Suhel, and Aazad — two from Uttar Pradesh and one from Hyderabad. According to sources, the trio is believed to be part of a newly formed ISIS-linked module under investigation by the ATS.

Officials said the arrests followed several days of intense surveillance after a specific intelligence tip-off. The suspects were reportedly in touch with handlers and sympathizers through encrypted communication platforms.

Preliminary questioning suggests they were either planning an attack or helping expand a terror network in western India. The ATS is now examining their digital footprint and travel history to trace possible associates and funding sources.

A senior ATS officer confirmed that further interrogation and forensic analysis of seized devices are underway to determine the full extent of their activities.

With the arrests, security agencies believe a major terror strike has been averted.
