Patna: The Election Commission of India has sent a reminder notice to RJD leader and Bihar’s Leader of Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav, seeking clarification over allegations that he holds two Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPICs).

The latest notice follows a press conference held by Yadav on August 2 in Patna, where he publicly displayed a voter ID card to the media. However, the Election Commission later stated that the card shown by Yadav was not issued by the EC, raising serious concerns about its authenticity.

Earlier, the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) of the Digha Assembly constituency had sent a letter to Yadav on August 3, asking him to submit the original EPIC and supporting documents for verification. As of now, there has been no response from Yadav or his office.

RJD Slams EC, Alleges Political Bias

In response, the Rashtriya Janata Dal has accused the Election Commission of acting under pressure from the BJP, claiming that the issue is being selectively highlighted to target Tejashwi Yadav politically.

Yadav, while addressing the media, said,

“The Election Commission should first respond to the serious questions raised by our party regarding the Special Summary Revision (SSR) of electoral rolls.”

No Objections Filed Over Voter List Removals

Meanwhile, despite the publication of the draft electoral rolls on August 1, not a single political party has filed any claims or objections over the alleged deletion of names—an unusual silence that has not gone unnoticed in political circles.

Analysts believe the timing of the controversy and the lack of objections from other parties may point to deeper political calculations at play.
