Bokaro: A wave of emotion swept across Bokaro as hundreds gathered to pay heartfelt tribute to Jharkhand’s towering tribal leader and JMM founder, Dishom Guru Shibu Soren, who passed away on August 4.

A joint condolence meeting held by the Bokaro District and Metropolitan Committees of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) turned into a powerful show of unity and remembrance, honouring the legacy of the man who shaped the Jharkhand movement and fought relentlessly for the rights of the marginalized.

District President Ratan Lal Manjhi hailed Soren as the very soul of Jharkhand’s tribal resistance, recalling his fierce battle against the oppressive Mahajan system and his unflinching stand for Adivasi dignity.

Metropolitan President Mantu Yadav described Dishom Guru as a symbol of struggle, who stood tall against displacement and injustice — especially recalling his defiant stand against SAIL’s land acquisition, which safeguarded Levatand and Churchuria Basti.

Speaker after speaker painted a portrait of Soren as a fighter for self-rule, social justice, and the voiceless — his life a saga of courage that culminated in the birth of Jharkhand.

The atmosphere inside the hall was heavy with emotion as leaders, party workers, women’s front activists, and citizens paid floral tributes and observed a solemn silence. All pledged to continue his mission for justice, identity, and empowerment.

“Dishom Guru is no more, but his ideals will lead us,” echoed the sentiment in the gathering — a fitting farewell to the man who became the heartbeat of Jharkhand.
